the fireplace reno
The fireplace that came with our home was the definition of a very tradition style fireplace. It was okay, but it definitely did not flow with the style across the rest of my home- not to mention the mantle of the fireplace was extremely high making our TV just sit so high on the wall!
WHAT WE DECIDED TO DO:
We were already replacing the flooring accross our home- so as we did that project we decide to go ahead and tear down our old fireplace and create a new one! I wanted a very minimal and organic look for this new fireplace. I spent countless hours on Pinterest looking for inspiration on plaster fireplaces! We do have a gas fireplace so we needed to keep tile on the surround for the heat. We opted for this Cloe Tile from Wayfair! Such a beautiful and timeless look!!
I showed our contractor photos of what we wanted and he made it happen! very simple and clean lines fireplace! Currently the surround is just a plaster/spackle. I have been looking into Portola Paints- Roman Clay colors to perhaps add a Roman Clay look to it down the road!
Since switching out the fireplace, I new I wanted to jazz up the interior a little bit. We do have a gas fireplace so I needed to get something that was safe for gas. These ceramic balls (fireballs as I like to call them) are BEAUTIFUL. Truly such an elevated touch to the interior. I also ordered this grate to set them on in the fireplace! Such a stunning detail to add if you are looking to just elevate your space even more.
